Overview

Chimwemwe Children’s Centre supports vulnerable children and their families affected and infected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. This project was set-up in January 2009 with, and for, the children on the streets of Malawi. It aims to bring long term change in the lives of children through a holistic approach, meeting their needs and accessing their rights. Our projects also aim at strengthening the children’s families, resolving the root problems that brought them onto the streets and enabling them to build good relationships.

Chimwemwe helps the street-children to return back to their families/communities and schools. The projects give children a voice on decisions and policies affecting them, and protect children from abuse, making sure that perpetrators are treated accordingly by the law.
